Rabat – Minister delegate for the interior Cherki Drais received, on Thursday at the ministry’s headquarters in Rabat, Stephen Brady, Australia’s accredited ambassador to Morocco with residence in France.
This audience was an occasion to discuss issues of shared interest mainly in relation with counterterrorism and security at the regional level, said a statement by the interior ministry, underlining that Drais shared with the Australian diplomate elements to assess the terrorist threat nature regionally and reiterated Morocco’s readiness to cooperate more with partner countries, including Australia, in the fight against terrorism and radicalization.
On preparations under way for holding, in Marrakech, the COP22, the minister delegate assured that Morocco took all necessary security measures to ensure the success of this global event, it said.
The Australian ambassador hailed the stability and spirit of tolerance and openness prevailing in Morocco and commended the Kingdom’s efficiency in terms of fighting terrorism, it added.
