Seattle- US Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Global Markets, Arun Kumar, praised, on Monday in Seattle, the “dynamism” of Morocco in several key areas, notably in trade.
“Morocco becomes a dynamic hub in the areas of trade and transport,” Kumar told MAP on the sidelines of the 3rd Morocco-US Trade and investment Forum.
The US official also highlighted the draft agreement for the setting up of a Boeing industrial ecosystem in Morocco, inviting American companies to follow the example of the global giant.
US economic operators can take advantage of investment opportunities in Morocco, particularly in the sectors of renewable energy, transport and tourism, said Kumar.
Referring to the Moroccan-US trade relations, he noted that the two countries have made “significant” progress since the conclusion of the Free Trade Agreement in July 2005, expressing the hope to “continue on this path.”
For his part, Vice president of Supply Chain Management, Finance & Business Operations-Commercial Airplanes at the Boeing Company, Kevin Schemm, said that Morocco is a “model” of industrial development for other countries, particularly in the aerospace sector.
He said that the draft agreement for the setting up of a Boeing industrial ecosystem in Morocco is part of a long-standing cooperation between Morocco and the US giant. He expressed the wish to further consolidate this relationship.
In this regard, Schemm called for exploring the “important” opportunities of the aerospace industry, a growing sector in Morocco.
