Madrid – Parliamentary elections which took place Friday in Morocco were held in an “exemplary manner,” Spanish government said.
These elections show the “clear commitment” of voters, political parties and institutions to democratic governance within the framework of the reform process undertaken by HM king Mohammed VI, Spain’s government said in a statement published by the ministry of foreign affairs.
“The Government of Spain congratulates the friendly nation of Morocco and its authorities for the exemplary manner in which the legislative elections on 7 October 2016 unfolded,” the source said.
Spain and Morocco, at all levels and through all institutions, have continued throughout the most recent Moroccan legislature to develop growing ties of collaboration in various sectors to give continuity to their excellent bilateral relations, the statement pointed out, adding that these relations have been consolidated on the basis of respect and mutual trust, which paves the way for the strengthening of cooperation to their mutual benefit and for the benefit of the Euro-Mediterranean region.
