Rabat – Thirty-six people were killed and 1,591 were injured, including 76 seriously, in the 1,230 road accidents in urban areas last week, the Moroccan police said.
These accidents were mainly ascribed to non-control of vehicles, non-respect of priority, excessive speeding, pedestrian and driver errors and driving under the influence of alcohol, the Moroccan police said in a statement.
Over 27,767 traffic tickets were issued by the police during the same week. The sum of fines paid by road traffic violators stood at 3,741,925 dirhams, the same source said.
