Rabat – A Saudi Prince was executed for murdering a young Saudi man 3 years ago in a group fight.
Saudi Ministry of Interior released a statement on Tuesday confirming the execution of Prince Turki Bin Saud al-Kabir after he was found guilty of murdering Saudi citizen Adel bin Suleiman bin Abdul Karim Mohaimeed.
The incident took place three years ago during a group fight in the al-Thumama region near the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
“Turki Bin Saud Bin Turki Bin Saud Al Kabir, a Saudi national, had shot Adel Bin Sulaiman Bin Abdul Kareem Al Muhaimeed, also a Saudi national, following a group dispute,” stated the Interior Ministry.
The statement continued, “The authorities were able to arrest the above mentioned offender. After the investigations, they charged him of committing the crime and his indictment was sent to the General Court. He was convicted with what was attributed to him and sentenced to death as retribution.”
Both the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court confirmed the indictment. The implementation of the execution was carried out after a Royal Decree was issued.
The family of the victim was offered money to stop the execution, but it demanded that justice be served, according to Alarabia English.
The statement pointed out that the Saudi government is keen on “enforcement of security, justice, and God’s judgments,” and added that whoever assaults innocent people and sheds their blood will face the same punishment.
