Rabat – Sixteen people were killed and 1,570 were injured, including 69 seriously, in 1,211 traffic accidents in urban areas last week, the Moroccan police said.
These accidents were mainly ascribed to non-control of vehicles, non-respect of priority, excessive speeding, pedestrian and driver errors and driving under the influence of alcohol, the Moroccan police said in a statement.
Over 28,345 traffic tickets were issued by the police during the same week. The sum of fines paid by road traffic violators stood at 3,777,725 dirhams, the same source said.
