Rabat – Twenty-two people were killed and 1,366 were injured, including 55 seriously, in 1,019 traffic accidents in urban areas last week, the Moroccan police said.
These accidents were mainly ascribed to non-control of vehicles, non-respect of priority, excessive speeding, pedestrian and driver errors and driving under the influence of alcohol, the Moroccan police said in a statement.
Over 21,330 traffic tickets were issued by the police during the same week. The sum of fines paid by road traffic violators stood at 4.36 million dirhams, the same source said.
