Rabat – There are only a few hours left before the long-awaited final career fight of Morocco’s World Kickboxing Champion Badr Hari against Dutch champion Rico Verhoeven, which is scheduled to take place Saturday, 10 December at the Konig Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen, Germany.
A video posted Friday on Facebook’s Glory Kickboxing page shows Hari with his coach arriving to the “stare-down” face to face meeting with his opponent.
Both fighters silently take measure of one another, fighters rage simmering just below the surface, clearly impatient for the Round 1 bell to signal crushing defeat for one and career ending glory for another. Until then they must content themselves with furtive glances and barely concealed animosity until the organizers intervene. The audience shouts “Badr!” in a moving show of support intended to motivate Hari to a memorable victory.
Saturday’s Glory Collision match is thought to be weighing heavily on Hari’s heart, since he is seeking to end his sporting journey in glorious victory to hold his head forever high.
During an exclusive interview with Todd Grisham for Glory Collision Countdown last week, Hari expressed his determination to “end his career with a knockout punch.” He also said confidently that “his opponent, Verhoeven, has a zero percent of chance to win the fight.”
“It is a fight [that] I always go for the knockout – you know, it’s like I go for the kill – and I do not believe in a second chance – everything is played in the first round,” Hari declared. “I am an emotional guy… I see everything personally, you see there maybe be an easy sport, just a game… but for me, it’s not a game.”
