Rabat – Morocco has always been present in emancipation fights of African peoples, said Moussa Mara, former Malian prime minister.
“Morocco has always been present in emancipation fights of African peoples and unity of progressive countries in the continent,” Mara told on Wednesday TV channel “Medi1 TV”.
Morocco, which has been historically at the forefront of the continent’s unity and has very good relations with a lot of African countries including Mali, cannot remain on the margins of the African institutional framework, he said.
On security cooperation, Mara deemed it very important as the Sahel region, which constitutes a border strip south of Morocco, is marked by turmoil caused by organizations acting on this part of the Moroccan territory as the Polisario, by establishing links with armed or terrorist groups.
He also hailed actions undertaken by HM King Mohammed VI in terms of training religious leaders, adding that such actions benefited Malian religious leaders first of all.
Mara also underscored Morocco’s economic action in Mali, notably major investment in the fields of banking, telecommunication, agriculture and food processing.
