Paris – Morocco assumed the presidency of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions for the year 2017-2018, during the committee 10th session held currently in Paris (Dec.12-15).
The UNESCO 2005 convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, adopted by the 33rd UNESCO general assembly, is a binding international legal tool which ensures that culture professionals have the possibility to produce a large array of cultural services.
The meeting’s agenda includes important topics as the contribution of the convention to the UN program on sustainable development by 2030, the reviving of the international fund for cultural diversity, the involvement of civil society, as well as the pilot study on operational directives for carrying out the convention in a digital environment.
The Moroccan presidency will be assured by secretary geneal of the culture ministry Mohammed Lotfi M’rini, said on Thursday a statement by the Moroccan permanent delegation to the UNESCO.
