Fez – Set to take place on Sunday December 18th, the Fes photography rally is a photo-based adventure in which participants explore the Medina by matching target-locations with a given photo.
The rally seeks to help people familiarize themselves with the Fes medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It brings together people from all different walks of life and aims to break down social barriers.
The Fes medina is a place of delight and wonder for its wayfarer, from its narrow labyrinth-like streets to its madrassas and mosques, the medina has many beautiful and charming sites. The photography rally is a means through which to behold such marvels.
In its 3rd edition, the rally is open to anyone who is 16 or older. Participants form groups and work together to find the location of the given image.
This rally is for foreigners and Moroccans alike, it not only aims to facilitate exploration of the medina but it also intends on helping the local people of Fes to rediscover their own heritage. The rally will also try to break down the stereotypes surrounding the Fes medina.
Organized by local photographer, Omar Chennafi and sponsored by the French Institute of Fez, Chennafi said about the project, “often, we do not appreciate what is right in front of us. Through this rally we hope to reconnect people with the beauty and wonder of Fes. We also aim to tackle the stereotype surrounding Fes.”
