Rabat – The Justice and Development Party (PJD) will convene in mid-January for a conference on the election of a new Secretary-General to succeed Abdelilah Benkirane
The Justice and Development Party is currently planning a conference in mid-January to elect a new Secretary General for the party. The party will create a preparatory Committee for this purpose.
This decision to hold the conference came after the party extended Benkirane’s term as its head last summer in a unique move. The party has agreed to organize the conference now that the party has secured its position at the head of the government following the last election.
According to Arabic-language news source, Abdelhak Elarbi, Director General of the party, revealed that the regular session of the PJD’s National Committee, which took place Saturday 17, focused on numerous issues like the ratification of the party’s program and budget drafts for the upcoming year. Additionally, the committee approved the election of the Preparatory Committee of the eighth conference due in mid-January.
Today’s session also discussed important complications standing in the way of the formation of a coalition government. The PJD’s Secretary-General enumerated the data pertaining to his mission of forming this government, ahead of the mid-January conference.
