Rabat - 19-year-old Moroccan, Walid Ijassi, has won the Adam Start Entrepreneurship Challenge, an annual international business competition supporting promising young entrepreneurs.
Rabat – 19-year-old Moroccan, Walid Ijassi, has won the Adam Start Entrepreneurship Challenge, an annual international business competition supporting promising young entrepreneurs.
The 24-year-old competition founder, Adam Bradford, officially announced on Tuesday that the title of the completion was awarded to Ijassi, whose project involves turning apple waste into consumer products.
In a comment released by Bradford, upon being informed of his first place victory Ijassi said, “It’s such an amazing opportunity that the #AdamStart Challenge has given me as a young Moroccan entrepreneur at an international level.”
Ijassi continued expressing his delight, saying, “Having received the call from the team telling me that out of more than 300 candidates I have been chosen as the winner of the challenge was just surreal and made me more confident and galvanized to take my start-up, with the help of the Challenge Team, to a global and more structured level.”
Started in 2013, the competition seeks to support budding entrepreneurs get started in a business or a start-up. 30 countries were represented in the 2016 competition, according to Bradford.
Supported by the BiG Challenge enterprise competition, Bradford started his business at the age of 14.
“I am so proud to be able to give my own money and expertise to the next generation in order to help them achieve their business ambitions,” Bradford said. “Ijassi is an exceptional young person and I am delighted to give him my backing. I can’t wait to see what he can achieve in the next years.”
