Rabat – Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has declined a €300million offer by an unnamed Chinese Super League club, according to his agent, Jorge Mendes, who says Ronaldo has no interest in the deal.
Speaking to Sky Sports Italia, Mendes revealed that the 31-year-old Portugal team captain would have received a salary of more than €100 millionper year.
“From China, one teamoffered 300 million euros to Real Madrid and more than 100 million per year to the player,” Mendes said. “But money is not everything. Real Madrid is his life. Cristiano is happy at Real Madrid and it is impossible to go to China.”
Named 2016’s best player of the year at the Globe Soccer Awards, “Ronaldo could play for Madrid until 2021 after he signinga new deal with Real Madrid in November,” Mendes explained.
Chinese market clubs have recently shown their desire to sign with famous players. Last week, China’s Shanghai SIPG signed Brazilian midfielder Oscar from Chelsea.
“The Chinese market is a new market. They can buy a lot of players, but then again it is impossible to go for Ronaldo,” Mendes said. “Cristiano is the best player in the world. It is normal to have some offers.”
