Trump, accompanied by his wife Melania, was sworn in shortly after noon by Supreme Court Justice John Roberts.
“We citizens of America are now joined in a great national effort to rebuild our country and restore its promise for all our people,” Trump said, in his address to the nation.
Before the inauguration, Trump went to the White House to meet with President Obama, the 44th president.
Trump then went to the Capitol and entered the carriage entrance with Obama, where he was notably greeted by Senator Mitch McConnell.
