Rabat – Every year when the heavy snow falls in Morocco’s Atlas region, drivers find themselves stuck on roads buried by an avalanche of cold whiteness.
A new YouTube video documents the latest snowfall in Ifrane, showing the cars and trucks stuck. When they do manage to get free, they are unable to find their way out of the heavy snow unless they follow a snow sweeper.
The nearly three-minute video also shows vehicles moving at a slow pace, drivers afraid of slipping in the four-centimeter-thick layer of wet snow.
Representatives of the Transportation and Equipment Ministry appear in the video sweeping the snow and helping drivers. They had been hard at work since the early morning hours.
Technical Manager for the Regional Directorate for Equipment, Transportation and Logistics, Madani Hassan, advised caution and urged drivers to respect the legal distance between cars that are in front of them, without crossing them.”
