Addis Ababa – Nigeria has welcomed Morocco’s return to the African Union (AU), deeming it a “key player” for stability in Africa.
“Morocco is welcome within its African family”, Nigerian Foreign Minister Geoffrey Onyeama told reporters, stressing Morocco’s place in the AU.
Onyeama underlined that Morocco’s return would strengthen the position of Africa and its capacity to manage major issues, especially those related to development, peace and security.
The return of Morocco will also promote solidarity among the members of the African family, the head of the Nigerian diplomacy said, stressing that solidarity is very important in the efforts to strengthen the position of Africa.
An overwhelming majority of African countries on Monday voted in favor of Morocco’s return to the African Union (AU), during the 28th Summit of African Heads of State and Government, which is being held in Addis Ababa.
