Rabat – King Mohammed VI personally called Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday to inquire about his health. Buhari is currently resting at the Abuja House in London while receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness.
In a brief statement on Tuesday, Nigerian journalist Femi Adenisa said that the King asked Buhari about his current health condition and expressed his contentment with the progress.
According to Nigerian news outlet, NAJI, the King and Buhari discussed the state of the joint Moroccan-Nigerian Atlantic crude oil pipeline. This opportunity was previously discussed during the King’s visit to Nigeria in December.
During the phone call, the King thanked Buhari for supporting Morocco in its return to the African Union and further informed him of the his country’s recent efforts to join the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
According to Adesina’s statement, the King expressed his intensions to strengthen the strategic partnership between both parties, using it to consult and collaborate on African issues of mutual interest.
Buhari thanked the King for his call and expressed his excitement towards strengthening Morocco-Nigeria relations, according to NAJI.
