Rabat - Morocco’s newly appointed Head of Government, Saad Eddine Othmani, has submitted the list of incoming ministers to the Royal Cabinet in Casablanca.
Rabat – Morocco’s newly appointed Head of Government, Saad Eddine Othmani, has submitted the list of incoming ministers to the Royal Cabinet in Casablanca.
Othmani was reportedly seen Saturday morning entering Casablanca’s royal palace. He submitted the list of ministers and he is still waiting the official announcement of the upcoming government by the royal cabinet on Monday.
The coalition government was formed by Othmani last week to include six parties. Since then, he has reportedly been putting the finishing touches on structure it.
The government will consist of 25-27 ministers and 5-7 Secretaries of State.
The government will also see the regrouping of some departments under one ministry, such as the Ministry of Communication will be amalgamated with the Ministry of Culture. By the same token, the Ministry of National Education will be integrated into Higher Education, Scientific Research and Training.
The Ministry of Justice and Freedoms will be extended to include the Department of Human Rights. The Ministry of Transport, Equipment and Logistics will now include the Water department and the Ministry of Energy will incorporate the Sustainable Development Department.
The Justice and Development Party (PJD) is reportedly seeking to take charge of the Ministries that its members had led in the former government, including the Ministry of Justice, Freedom and Human Rights Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water Culture and Communication. The PJD is also seeking ministerial portfolios in the field of finance and economy.
