Rabat – Judicial police in Nador have confiscated about 15 tons of hashish and arrested one person for his alleged links with a criminal international drug trafficking network.
The announcement was made by the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) in a communiqué on Monday.
The 46-year-old suspect was arrested on the basis of “precise information” provided by DGSN, explained the communiqué. The alleged offender was placed under arrest following an investigation supervised by the public prosecutor.
The field work was carried out by police at the Douar Oulad Issa (50 km from Nador) and the Taourirt Boucetta region (25 km from Nador). 578 bags containing 14,973 tons of hashish, in addition to six cars carrying false license plates, used for drug trafficking, were seized, according to the same source.
The DGSN will continue its investigations to apprehend additional members suspected of having links with the same criminal network.
The operation is part of the efforts undertaken by National Security Services, in coordination with the services of the General Directorate of National Surveillance in their fight against drug trafficking and the distribution of psychotropic drugs.
