Montreal – Several Moroccan movies will be screened as part of the 33rd Montreal World Film Festival ‘Vues d’Afrique’, to be held on April 14-23, said on Tuesday the organizing committee.
It noted in a statement that the film “La Main de Fadma” (hand of Fadma) by Ahmed El Maanouni, winner of the Achievement Award at the last edition of the National Film Festival in Tangier, was chosen to open the Festival.
According to the same source, many other Moroccan films will be presented during the event, including « A mile in my shoes » by Said Khallaf, “Pluie de sueur” (Rain Sweat) by Hakim Belabbes and the documentary “Raja Bent El Mellah” (Rajae of AlMallah) by Abdelilah Eljaouhary, besides three other short movies «Ima» by Hicham Regragui, “Aya va à la plage” (Aya goes to the Beach) by Maryam Touzani and “Bêlons” (Bleat) by El Mehdi Azzam.
To highlight the importance of Moroccan cinema industry, « Vue d’Afrique » and the Moroccan Cultural Centre will organize on April 20th a seminar under the theme «Cinematographic coproduction in Africa: Moroccan leadership in cinematographic coproduction, an inspiring model of south-south co-operation and north-south coproduction.”
