Rabat – Barcelona Coach, Luis Enrique, is expected to take a year off after leaving the club at the end of the season.
Following three years with his squad, Enrique has announced his desire to take a long furlough after the end of his contract with the Catalan club at the end of this season.
The 46-year-old Barcelona coach is following the footsteps of the club’s former coach, Pep Guardiola, who took a season off after departing Barcelona.
Enrique has been rumored to be taking over Arsenal, but he refuted this rumor ahead of the Barcelona vs Sevilla, scheduled to take place today.
He explained that if he does decide to leave Barcelona, which he considers his home, it will surely be due to fatigue. He also said that he is not intending to coach another team this year, because he needs to rest. “I need to recover. I’m not thinking about other teams. It will be a year to recover, but now what’s left to do is to end the season with all our objectives achieved,” said Enrique.
Enrique’s squad is competing in three competitions this season. The club has qualified for the Spanish King’s Cup final and classified in second on La Liga’s chart with 66 points, which is only two points behind Real Madrid.
