Rabat – Spanish rivals, Barcelona and Real Madrid, are competing over who will sign Italian superstar, Leonardo Bonucci.
According to international media outlets, the 29-year-old player has been heavily linked to rumours that would see him transferred to one of the teams on La Liga’s table. The Daily Mail reported that Bonucci has no future plans and added that he has no immediate plans to leave Juventus any time soon. “I hope to honour my contract at Juventus that’s for sure,” said Bonucci.
For its part, Real Madrid has been desperate to sign Bonucci at the end of the season. They have a massive need to find a replacement for key defender Pepe, whose contract is about to expire by next summer.
According to a press report by Don Balon, Barcelona is also chasing the Italian player for a summer move. The Catalan team is looking for opportunities to strengthen its defense, but the question being raised is whether Leonardo would be up to leaving his home for his team’s rival? This is what the end of the season has in store for fans and teammates alike.
Bonucci plays a critical role among his center-back teammates on the Juventus roster, this season in particular. The team has won five titles in a row in the Italian league and is expected to hit the sixth in 2017.
Several English clubs, including Manchester City and Chelsea are also targeting the player for his techniques.
Former Juventus player, Chelsea coach Antonio Conte, tried to sign with Bonucci during last summer’s transfer window. A fan of the Italian player, he won’t give up on his desire to get the Juventus top star on his side for the rest of his contract’s duration.
