Rabat – Washington “congratulates” the new government that King Mohammed VI appointed on Wednesday, noting that the Kingdom is “a key partner” of the United States on a wide range of issues, the US State Department said on Thursday.
“We congratulate Morocco following the formation of this new government and look forward to working with the new head of government, Saad Eddine El Othmani, and all the ministers” of this government, the US State Department added.
“Morocco continues to be a key partner of the United States on a wide range of issues, including regional stability, the fight against terrorism and trade,” the US State Department pointed out.
The government appointment ceremony was marked with only 13 new faces out of a total of 39 ministers consisting of members who are already affiliated with the six parties that will lead the government over the next five years and others who are technocrats.
After six month of political deadlock, Head of Government, Saad Eddine Othmani formed a governing coalition consisting of six parties, the Justice and Development party (PJD), the National Rally of Independents (RNI), the Popular Movement (MP), the Constitutional Union (UC), the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS) and the Socialist Union of Popular Forces (USFP).
