Salé – Eight prisoners found guilty of engaging in terrorist activities in Morocco have been handed their sentences.
The criminal court at the annexe of Salé’s Court of Appeals, in charge of terrorism offences, handed out the sentences on Thursday, ranging from 8 months to 5 years.
The accused were indicted primarily for creating a gang for the express purpose of preparing and committing terrorist acts and for the incitement of others to commit acts of terrorism within the peaceful borders of Morocco.
At the same time, the Court also made the decision to postpone assigning verdicts in a string of cases involving more than 70 defendants. Verdicts now won’t be handed down until April 27 and May 4.
