The ambassador of the Russian Federation in Rabat, Valeri Vorobiev, said that the official visit of King Mohammed VI to Russia in March 2016, gave new impetus to bilateral relations between the two countries at all levels.
“Following the historic visit of king Mohammed VI in Russia and the talks with His Excellency President Vladimir Putin, the Moroccan-Russian relations witnessed a notable development in various fields,” said the Russian diplomat. Vorobiev also seized the opportunity to hail the Moroccan-Russian economic forum, which contributed to boosting bilateral cooperation in various fields, including agriculture, tourism and fisheries.
Ukrainian agricultural consultant, UkrAgroConsult, revealed last month that Morocco’s imports of wheat from Russia have increased by 300 percent over the last season. On the tourism level, Russian tourists have begun exploring Morocco as an emerging tourist destination. Nearly 90 percent of travelers choose Agadir as a holiday destination.
After King Mohammed VI visited Russia in March 2016, several cooperative agreements between the two countries were signed. At the time, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Mikhail Bogdanov, told the press that the agreements would further strengthen the existing strategic partnership between Morocco and Russia.
