Rabat – In an editorial published Friday, the Istiqlal Party (PI) mouthpiece Al Alam has lashed out at the government program, saying that the head of government presented a “tasteless program.”
The PI, which had previously expressed its support for the government following the October elections, has now criticized the government program, specifically its reduction of subsidies.
“The government pledges to continue the attack on purchasing power by gradually reducing its subsidies for the remaining consumption goods,” the newspaper said.
Al Alam claimed that certain coalition parties are not putting in proper efforts, which weakens the government and makes it appear “pathetic” to the public.
Al Alam continued, warning Othmani against taking the all parties’ support for granted, saying that support “should not be seen from a numerical angle of computation, even if a quorum [seems] to have [ultimately] been reached in the calculations of the Head of Government.”
The newspaper suggested that the government may already be suffering from internal conflicts, referring to an apparent absence of effective participation within the coalition.
