Rabat – Morocco and China have agreed to establish a joint venture to monitor the construction the residential complexes and industrial firms of Mohammed VI Tangier Tech City.
The first steps in the preparation for the Chinese mega-project near the northern city of Tangier, Mohammed VI Tangier Tech City, have already been made. Representatives of the Chinese investment firm, Haite, and Moroccan government officials attended a joint meeting in the headquarter of the region of Tangier-Tetouan-Hoceima on Saturday, April 30 to discuss the implementation of the project.
The parties attending the meeting agreed to establish a joint venture to monitor the construction of all the components of the city, including the intelligent residential complexes and the industrial zones. Representatives of the two parties also agreed on the plans and designs for the first part of the project and made an inspection visit to Ain Dalia, where the new city will be constructed.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary of the State to the Minister of Industry, Trade and Digital Investment, Othmane Alfirdaous, Head of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, Ilyass Omari, Governor of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, and Mohamed Akoumi, General Delegate for International Activities for the Moroccan Bank for Foreign Trade.
Another preparatory step is set to begin soon with the engineering design of the project’s infrastructure. For this matter, a legal, technical, and engineering delegation of the Chinese investment firm Haite is expected to arrive in Tangier on Thursday, April 4 to meet with its Moroccan counterpart. This engineering design will then later be submitted to the city’s commune.
The second phase will begin after completion of the technical and engineering preparations, kicking off implementation of the project and the training of the graduates of vocational training colleges and schools in Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima regions. The training will be conducted by Chinese delegation of trainers from the relevant fields.
