Rabat – After a long absence from the public eye, Algerian president Abdelaziz Bouteflika re-appeared on Thursday to cast his vote in the Algerian legislative elections.

In a televised video, Bouteflika appeared in a wheel with his brothers in the voting room in Algeria.

The president’s long disappearance has been attributed to an unidentified illness.

In the elections, more than 12,000 candidates representing 60 parties will vie for 462 seats in the Algerian parliament.
