Rabat – The city of Azemmour will host the 7th edition of Malhounyat Festival June 1 to 4, under the theme “Moroccan Artisans and Creators of Spectacle in the Art of Malhoun.”
The four-day event will gather together artists of Malhoun, a form of sung poetry descending from Moorish North Africa, artists from Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco to celebrate their art.
The festival will include performances by young Moroccan artists of Malhoun and Andalusian music, including Redouan Al Asmar, famous for his remake of the classic song “Naker Lahssen”.
The 2017 Arab Got Talent’s finalist Abir El Abed will also take part in the festival. The young Moroccan has attracted a great deal of attention from Arab and local audiences. Several other artists will also participate in this event, including Sanae Marahati, Fatima Zahra Qortobi, and Bayane Belayachi.
Away from music, the festival will hold conferences on Malhoun and Andalousian arts as well as a conference about Moroccan artisans.
The event will be organized by El Jadida’s provincial association of Cultural Affairs in coordination with the Sherifian Office of Phosphates (OCP), the Municipality of Mharza Sahel and the complex of Ola Blanc
