Toronto - Police in Amsterdam have reported that a vehicle has plowed through a crowd of pedestrians outside the Dutch capital’s Centraal train station.
Toronto – Police in Amsterdam have reported that a vehicle has plowed through a crowd of pedestrians outside the Dutch capital’s Centraal train station.
At least 8 people were injured, two of whom have been taken to hospital. Police spokeswoman, Marjolein Koek, issued a statement saying, “There is no indication whatsoever that this is a terrorist attack.”
On the contrary, Police tweeted that the driver of the vehicle “Did not seem to go deliberately but [was] incapacitated.”
The driver in question had been parked illegally at the station. When approached by police officers he sped away, crashing into a wall and striking several people in the process.
The square outside the station was sealed off as police, who arrived on scene immediately, searched for the car. When it was located, the driver was immediately pulled out and placed under arrest.
