Rabat - Newly-elected French president Emmanuel Macron and his wife. Brigitte Macron arrived in Rabat on Wednesday afternoon for a two-day friendship and work visit, which came following an invitation by King Mohammed VI.
Rabat – Newly-elected French president Emmanuel Macron and his wife. Brigitte Macron arrived in Rabat on Wednesday afternoon for a two-day friendship and work visit, which came following an invitation by King Mohammed VI.
Upon his arrival at the Rabat-Salé airport, the Macrons were greeted by King Mohammed VI, who was accompanied by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, Prince Moulay Rachid, Princess Lalla Salma and Princess Lalla Oum Keltoum.
Macron was then welcomed by the Head of Government, Saad Eddine El Otmani, the Councilors of the King, the Minister of the Interior, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Ambassador of Morocco to France.
Emmanuel Macron was also greeted by Major General, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces, Lieutenant General, Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie, Director General of National Security and Director of National Surveillance, Director General of Studies and Documentation, the Wali of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Region, the President of the Regional Council, elected officials and representatives of the civil and military authorities of the wilaya.
The King was subsequently greeted by the members of the French Embassy in Rabat, as well as by the members of the official delegation accompanying Macron.
Macron and Brigitte were then invited to the traditional ceremony of offering milk and dates.
After a brief pause at the Salon of Honor of the airport Rabat-Salé, the procession of the two Heads of State headed towards the Royal Palace of Rabat.
The king invited Macron to visit with the intent of strengthening the longstanding relations between Morocco and France, as well as consolidating the “bilateral relations based on the strong partnership” between the two countries, Morocco’s Ministry of the Royal House, Protocol and Chancellery, said on Wednesday morning.
