Rabat – Four nationals of West African countries were arrested at Casablanca’s Mohammed V airport in possession of 5.77 Kilograms of cocaine concealed in 315 capsules.
According to a press release issued by the Directorate General of National Security on Tuesday, the airport’s police officers arrested on June 22 and 24 three Nigerians and one Guinea-Bissauan for their involvement in the trafficking of cocaine on a flight.
The defendants arrived on a flight from Sao Paulo and were to transit to Brazil, where they were arrested following a security screening after about 315 capsules were found in their stomach during a routine search.
After being apprehended, they were admitted to Ibn Rochd University Health Center in Casablanca in order to eject the drug-filled capsules.
This operation was carried out as part of the efforts made by Moroccan security services to combat cross-border crimes, particularly international drug trafficking.
