Rabat – A photo used by the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs to promote improvements made to the India-Pakistan border actually shows one between Morocco and Spain, Alt News reported Wednesday.
The 2016-7 annual report by the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs featured the image under the caption “If you see the work done by Modi Government on Indian border, you’ll be proud and highly appreciative.”
The photo was taken by photographer Javier Moyano in 2006 and shows a section of the 6.4km land border separating the Spanish enclave of Ceuta with northern Morocco.
Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi has since called for an inquiry.
“If it’s a mistake by the ministry, we will apologise,” said Mehrishi.
