Rabat – Spain’s military police arrested a Moroccan man in Collado Mediano near Madrid on Tuesday morning for suspected involvement in radicalization and spreading pro-ISIS terrorist propaganda. The authorities stated that detainee considered his actions “completely justified.”
A statement released by the Spanish Ministry of the Interior disclosed that the 31-year old Moroccan had been arrested for having “a relationship with propaganda structures of ISIS in Spain.” It was also announced that an investigation regarding the man was launched mid-2016.
According to the Ministry, the man used his computer skills to access hard-to-find radical content and then conceal his identity so that his online searches could not be discovered.
Despite having no particular qualification in computing, the Ait Aissa-born man used computer manuals to learn about the TOR network and the “deep” internet, where servers and pages are encrypted.
On June 21, a “highly radicalized” Moroccan man was arrested in central Madrid., A police search of the 32-year old’s flat revealed a large selection of “extreme Islamist material,” including a manual for suicide bombers.
In June 2015, Spain’s Ministry of Interior raised the Anti-terrorism Alert Level to 4. Since then, Spanish security forces have arrested 181 jihadi terrorist operations in both Spain and abroad.
