Rabat – Linkin Park singer, Chester Bennington, aged 41, was found hanged Thursday morning in his Palos Verdes home, near Los Angeles.
Bennington’s body was discovered hanging just before 9am Thursday morning. The singer was candid about his history of drug and alcohol abuse but had been clean and sober for some time, by all reports.
The father of six children from two marriages, he decided to go to rehab following his second marriage.
His death fell on the birthday of good friend, Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell, who would have been 53. Cornell too was found hanged, in his hotel room in May while on tour. Bennington had performed Leonard Cohen’s “Halleluhiah” at Cornell’s funeral.
Linkin Park was set to begin a tour at the end of July to promote their latest album, “One More Light.”
The band’s first album, “Hybrid Theory,” debuted in 2000. The band enjoyed a string of hits ever since.
