Rabat – The government has approved the granting of scholarships to 100,000 out of the 400,000 trainees in the National Office for Vocational Training and Promotion (OFPPT), reports Al Massae.
Nearly 100,000 OFPPT trainees from disadvantaged social classes will benefit from the recently approved scholarship, aimed at building trainees’ skills and enabling them to successfully complete their training.
Secretary of State for Vocational Training Larbi Bencheikh was responsible for suggesting this measure before the government council.
Former prime minister Abdelilah Benkirane had previously presented the measure. However, he did not obtain the approval of his government coalition to validate it and make it enforceable during the previous legislation, indicated Al Massae in its July 21 edition.
During the government council meeting held Thursday, July 20 in Rabat, Mohamed Hassad, Minister of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research, announced the measure while speaking on the government’s Strategy on Educational Reform.
He indicated that the government council approved a draft decree setting the conditions for granting a scholarship to trainees enrolled in the public institutes of the OFPPT.
The conditions for granting this scholarship are based on the same criteria as those for the scholarships granted to students in public universities.
