Rabat – The Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeal in Salé sentenced on Thursday seven girls to jail terms ranging from two to five years imprisonment on charges of terror-related acts, the Maghreb Arab Press (MAP) has announced.
The court sentenced the main accused to five years’ imprisonment and imposed four-year prison sentences on three other defendants.
Two other underage litigants were sentenced to three years’ imprisonment, while one of the accused underage girls was sentenced to a two-year detention.
The terrorist cell was arrested in October for forming gangs to commit terrorist acts, inciting others to commit terrorist acts, and plotting to commit suicide attacks in several regions across the kingdom.
In late October, Moroccan authorities dismantled the terrorist cell made of 10 women. The Ministry of Interior said that the group were “aiming to increase female presence in the Daech terrorist group.”
