Rabat – Dutch-Moroccan football player Anwar El Ghazi has paid a heart-felt tribute to his former teammate Abdelhak Nouri, the Ajax midfielder suffering from permanent brain damage.
During a game between El Ghazi’s French team Lile against FC Nantes on Saturday, the Dutch-Moroccan scored the third goal for his squad.
Right away, the 22-year old striker took off his jersey, showing a T-shirt with the picture of Nouri and the number 34, the number he held with Ajax.
El Ghazi seemed under emotion as he paid tribute for his friend in the Dutch team.
The Dutch-Moroccan was hugged by his teammates as his emotion was manifest.
While Nouri’s condition has not improved, solidarity with the player and his family continues.
On Sunday, the players from the Moroccan football team Renaissance Sportive de Berkane wore t-shirts with Nouri’s picture during a game against the Wydad Athlétic Club.
