Rabat – Rabat’s judiciary police arrested on Monday a 50-year old man for carrying 6,000 Rivotril tablets, reported Maghreb Arab Press (MAP).
The suspect was caught aboard a car in possession of the tablets. A sum of money was also seized during his arrest.
Rivotril is a medication used to treat and prevent seizures, anxiety, and panic disorders. This medicine cannot be used unless it is prescribed by a doctor.
The defendant was put in custody pending the completion of the investigation, which will be under the supervision of the public prosecutor, according to a statement issued by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
The operation was carried out as part of the efforts made by Moroccan security services to combat drug trafficking and psychotropic substances across the kingdom.
