In a post-match press conference, Ziyech said that last night “was a great night, but we still have one game that separates us from achieving our dream.”
Ziyech added, “Casablanca’s fans are astonishing. Yesterday was the first time I played in Casablanca and I loved the atmosphere there.”
The Ajax star also said that the team’s upcoming game against Ivory Coast will be very difficult. However, the team is ready to put all its efforts to defeat the Ivorian squad for the sake of the Moroccan people, who are awaiting this achievement eagerly, reported Moroccan daily newspaper, Assabah.
The two teams are set to clash on November 6 to decide which of the two will qualify for next summer’s World Cup 2018 in Russia.
Ziyech also expressed his gratitude to the fans that supported the Atlas Lions throughout the game.
With the win over Gabon, Morocco is now the leader of the group with 9 points, just ahead of Ivory Coast with 8. Morocco will need at least a draw to qualify for the World Cup while the host team will need a victory.
