Rabat – Harvey Weinstein, the prominent American film producer, has been facing a growing number of sexual assault allegations since the New York Times published an investigation last week.
Many women, including celebrities and colleagues, accused Weinstein of sexual harassment and assaults. Many of their claims are similar, with multiple stories that Weinstein invited them to a hotel room or his house, where he either asked them for a “naked massage” or assaulted them, according to international media.
The Weinstein Company’s board has fired the producer after the many sexual assault complaints filed against him. Many unrevealed sexual harassment plots against Harvey goes back to three decades.
Among the women who were sexually assaulted by the producer are a young assistant in New York in 1990, an actress in 1997, an assistant in London in 1998, and an Italian model in 2015, according to the NYT’s investigation.
Weinstein has addressed an apology message to the colleagues he harassed. “I appreciate the way I’ve behaved with colleagues in the past has caused a lot of pain, and I sincerely apologize for it.
Though I’m trying to do better, I know I have a long way to go,” said Weinstein in a statement to the NYT.
Harvey added that he is trying to deal with this issue with the rapists, and is “planning to take a leave of absence to deal with his issue.” British actress Lysette Anthony claimed that she was attacked by Weinstein at her London home in the late 1980s, according to British news outlet BBC.
Among the celebrities who were sexually assaulted by Weinstein are Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Rose McGowan. The actresses have all made a number of allegations against Harvey.
The BBC added that an unidentified victim said that the American producer raped her in 1992
