Rabat – French-Congolese rapper Gandhi Djuna, commonly known as Maitre Gims, surprised his fans after he showed deep respect for the Moroccan national anthem while it was played during his concert in Agadir.
Standing behind the Moroccan flag, Gims put his hand over his heart as the audience sang the anthem.
Gims, who took part on Saturday in the annual Concert Pour la Tolérance in the Moroccan beach city of Agadir, chose to show his love for Morocco by sharing the patriotic moment with his fans.
The singer also talked about his special relationship with King Mohammed VI, telling Moroccan news outlet Le360 that the King has become his “friend.”
“The King of Morocco has become a friend, someone who is close to me, someone who helped me a lot and who has presented Morocco to me in a different angle,” he said.
“He showed me that I’m most welcome here. We met several times. He calls me often. He’s someone I’d like to honor,” explained the French singer.
