Rabat – Immediately after the final of the CAF Champions League ended, King Mohammed VI called Wydad of Casablanca’s coach Hussein Ammoutta and the team’s captain Brahim Nekkash and congratulated them on winning the Champions League title.
Following a breath-taking match against Ahly of Egypt, Wydad of Casablanca players succeeded in defending the score it achieved in the first leg of the Final last week Saturday and in securing a 1-0 win that enables them to secure the second Champions League title in the history of the club.
The last time Wydad won the Champions League was in 1992. Moroccans had to wait for 18 years to see a Moroccan team win a Champions League title. The last time a Moroccan team won the title was in December 1999 when Raja of Casablanca secured the title against Esperance of Tunisia.
