Rabat – In his latest great performances with his German club Schalke 04 in Germany’s Bundesliga league, Moroccan-French midfielder Amine Harit netted a beautiful goal on Saturday from the penalty spot against his team’s opponent, FC Koln.
The 20-year-old rising star has been targeted for his professional football skills by many notable international teams, including Arsenal.
Harit has scored six times for Schalke 04 throughout the ongoing competition. The youngster, who had been playing for the French club FC Nantes, signed with his current team on July 10 for EUR 8 million.
The game finished with a 2-2 draw between the two teams. Schalke 04 is ranked third in the Bundesliga standings with 25 points. Bayern Munich is first with 32 points, followed by RB Leipzig.
In September, Harit announced he would represent Morocco in the World Cup on his official Facebook account. The footballer said that he chose to represent Morocco because of his parents.
“I think that it is the toughest choice I have had since my career began, and today I am very proud of it,” he said.
The Moroccan star is expected to take a place in the list of the players who will participate in the 2018 World Cup.
The Moroccan team is placed in Group B with Spain, Iran, and Portugal. Morocco’s journey in the competition will start on June 15, when the squad will face its first opponent, Iran.
After the draw, Harit said that he is not afraid of the “deadly group,” as many international football figures refer to it.
“I am a little disappointed because I wanted to play against France. There are many Franco-Moroccans on our team [the Moroccan national team] and, for us, it would have been an honor to be able to challenge the Blues [France],” reported French sports outlet L’Equipe.
The footballer then took the opportunity to express his satisfaction with competing against the best teams in the world: La Roja and Portugal.
