Rabat – A suspect was arrested in the night of December 14 to 15 in Khenifra, a city in northern central Morocco after he was planning an attack  on a bus, using an improvised explosive bomb, reported Moroccan daily Al Ahdath Al Maghribia.

The bomb was found by the passengers, who rushed to alert the bus driver. Upon the arrival of the police, passengers described to the authorities the man who was carrying a bottle filled with gasoline and a large amount of nails.

The police quickly managed to dismantle the homemade bomb.  The discovery of the explosive device raised a wave of panic among passengers, most of whom were students.

The police put roadblocks throughout the access points in the city in order to arrest the alleged criminal. While the authorities quickly identified him,  his identity was not revealed to the public.

Investigations are underway to determine the suspect’s motives and possible people involved in the case.
