Rabat – Morocco’s LafargeHolcim board of directors appointed George Michos as the company’s new director and general manager, the group said in a statement following a meeting held on February 6.
Michos replaced Marcel Cobus, who joined the LafargeHolcim executive committee in charge of the Europe region.
Before his appointment, Michos held a number of senior management positions within the LafargeHolcim group. From 2015 until this appointment, he worked as managing director of Heracles General Cement Company, a subsidiary of the LafargeHolcim group in Greece.
LafargeHolcim is a manufacturer of building materials. It claims to be the largest in the world, with a presence in 80 countries and 90,000 employees.
The group was formed in 2015 by the merger of cement companies Lafarge and Holcim. They had combined net sales of 27 billion euros in 2014.
