Rabat – The President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Suma Chakrabarti, will visit Morocco on Tuesday, February 20.
The bank announced in a statement on February 16 that Chakrabarti will hold talks with several Moroccan officials to strengthen cooperation between the State and the EBRD.
Chakrabarti said that the EBRD is committed and ready “to continue to support Morocco and give the private sector the means to focus on job creation and inclusion, welcoming the Kingdom’s efforts in the economic and social fields.”
“Morocco has made good progress in economic reform and development and we look forward to contributing to the country’s economy with more investment,” Chakrabarti added.
The bank has invested more than 1.5 billion euros in 36 projects in Morocco. It has also supported nearly 400 small and medium Moroccan enterprises, said the same source.
Chakrabarti will be accompanied during this visit by Douglas Nevison, Board Director for Morocco, Janet Heckman, Managing Director for the South East Mediterranean Region and Marie-Alexandra Veilleux-Laborie, Head of EBRD Rabat’s Office.
