On October 31, the United Nations Security Council adopted Resolution 2440, which will extend the mandate of the UN mission in the Western Sahara until April 30, 2019. It is the second time since 2008 that the United Nations in Western Sahara, known as MINURSO, mandate has been extended for only six months as opposed to the traditional 12-month-period.
