The reputation of the world’s second-largest and second-most-populous continent has unfortunately been dampened by fear-mongering tales of kidnappings and terrorism and myths of universal poverty. While several countries indeed suffer from political, economic, and social instability, writing off the entire continent as unsafe is simply nonsensical.
